How it works

Four steps, and you never have to visit an office.

Working remotely is not a compromise — it is the reason clients in every state can get the same careful preparation. Here is exactly what happens, from the first conversation to the filing confirmation.

Step one is a conversation. No paperwork yet, no obligation — just an honest read on where you stand.

01

Send your documents

It starts with a free consultation.

We begin with a conversation — by phone, text or email, whichever suits you — about what happened during the year. Employment, self-employment, a business, a move, a new dependent, a letter from the IRS: all of it matters, and all of it is easier to handle when it is on the table from the start.

Then you send your documents. How you send them is up to you, and if you are not sure what is needed you will be given a written list rather than left to guess.

Typically needed

  • Photo ID and Social Security numbers for you and your dependents
  • Last year’s return, if you have it
  • Income documents — W-2s, 1099s, K-1s
  • Records of expenses you want to claim
  • Mortgage interest and property tax statements
  • Tuition, student loan and childcare statements
  • Anything that changed during the year
02

I prepare and review

Prepared by hand, not pushed through.

Your return is prepared with every credit and deduction you qualify for checked before it goes anywhere. Nothing gets assumed on your behalf, and nothing gets left on the table because it was easier to skip.

Then we go through it together, in plain language. You will hear what changed from last year, what it means, and why the numbers came out the way they did — while there is still time to ask.

What you get

  • Federal and state returns prepared together
  • Credits and deductions reviewed against your actual situation
  • A plain-language walkthrough of the finished return
  • Questions answered before you sign, not after
03

You approve and sign

Nothing is filed without your say-so.

You see the return before it goes anywhere. If something looks wrong or unfamiliar, we fix it — that is the entire point of reviewing it together rather than filing and explaining afterwards.

Once you are satisfied, you sign electronically. No printing, no scanning back, no trip across town.

What you get

  • Your return reviewed with you in full
  • Changes made before filing, not after
  • Electronic signature — no printing or mailing
  • Your copy kept for next year
04

Filed electronically

And then you know where you stand.

Your federal and state returns are filed electronically, and you are told when they are accepted. If a refund is coming, you will know roughly what to expect and how the timing works.

And if something arrives afterwards — a notice, a question, a change — you have someone to call who already knows your file.

What you get

  • Federal and state returns filed electronically
  • Confirmation when the return is accepted
  • A clear answer on refund timing
  • Support afterwards if a notice arrives

Questions before you start

A few things worth knowing up front.

Do I need to be good with computers?

No. If you can text a photo or open an email, you have everything you need. The parts that require a computer are on my side of the table.

Is it safe to send my documents this way?

Documents move through secure sharing rather than open email attachments, and your information is not passed around. If you would rather hand something over a different way, say so and we will work it out.

What if I am behind on filing?

That is a common starting point, and the first conversation is free and judgement-free. We will work out where you stand and what the next step is before you commit to anything.

Can you file for more than one state?

Yes. State returns are prepared and filed alongside the federal return, including for clients who moved or worked in more than one state during the year.
